The title of this piece was Tom Sawyer’s favorite saying. He claimed that if he could push a button and change everyone’s attitude he’d do it, that it would absolutely change everything. Keep in mind that the phrase ‘absolutely change everything’ came from an entity who came to Earth specifically to assist in changing everything. Your attitude is that powerful.
Sociologists say that it only takes 3.5% of a population to effect a distinct social change. That’s our job, to effect a wide ranging attitudinal change. As spiritually oriented people that change is toward an open, warmly connected heart.
You can feel that in our Zoom gatherings. Not only are we enjoying the camaraderie, but we want more. After each one I’ve been left wanting in-person meetings, like the one planned for July 11-13 this year. I’m eager to sit and chat with old friends and make new ones as well.
Someone had mentioned how fun it was to recall old memories and introduce new people to our history. But they also wanted to cover where we are now and what may be required of us in the future. I have to agree with that. I could tell Tom stories until my voice gives out and enjoy every minute, but we need to see where we’re going too.
There are many lessons in those Tom stories. Lessons which may be very useful to everyone as we go along. He sometimes left people wondering what he was talking about. It was because he was talking to who they would likely become in the future and they didn’t quite grasp that.
Further Zoom meetings, in-person meetings, and this blog, will allow the time needed to cover some of those deep lessons.
My feeling is those lessons are essential – because we’ll be called upon to do difficult things in the time ahead. Knowing the ‘rules of the road’ so to speak will be very helpful in being able to successfully complete whatever task comes before us.
Tom had excitedly looked forward to there being over one hundred thousand more people with his spiritual abilities by 1988. He expected there to be not just an awareness of superluminal telepathic communication among a few people, but a measurable understanding of how it worked, and for it to be a common occurrence among that group. It is still available to us.
Tom often said, “Don’t just take my word for it. Find out for yourself.” Meaning go into your own meditation deeply enough to experience the truth of these things. As I’m sure we’re all aware by now, it’s not an easy challenge.
As I understand it, the Priesthood is a teaching and healing order, intended to be visible ‘midwives’ assisting people into a new age. Thus, we work on more than one realm spiritually speaking. We are part of an ongoing circuitry of energy, the purity of which is determined by who and how we are. In other words, by our attitudes.
We each already have the potential for whatever our work is to be. So our work is to be us, to be fully our own open-hearted selves.
Change is often chaotic. In such times it’s important to be aware of our strengths and weaknesses in dealing with others. The process of gaining insights into ourselves, and conducting ourselves lovingly based upon them, brings more to us. We are enhanced by virtue of our own efforts.
So, our job is to maintain a healthy, well-balanced, and honestly happy attitude during a time of great change. If we can deal with the frustrations and aggravations of such an effort, and do so in a healthy manner, the reward will be well worth it.
Those who have pre-cognitive and/or clairvoyant events, which can be exciting and sensational, are no more successful than those who serve by being loving, mundane, and less active. Spiritual work is not divine because of any greater or lesser measurements. It is divine because of the love gesture.
According to quantum physics light doesn’t travel in one straight line, and baseballs don’t follow one simple arc. I don’t grasp the mathematics involved but the general idea is that every material thing, at its most elemental, is made of energy. That energy follows the laws of quantum physics. Quantum physics begins with probabilities.
Before a photon of physical light leaves its source, having been acted upon by some outside energy, it exists as only a probability of manifestation in the material world. That probability is infinite, meaning the photon might end up traveling in any direction whatsoever. All of those potentials eventually collapse into a single direction of travel, based on the initial impulse and the environment it will encounter. And, that single direction is determined by the amount of ‘action’ required to get it where it’s going.
Vague terms, I know, but please bear with me. It will come around to what we are all doing here in this life.
So, we all know that light bends as it passes through water, right? If you stick a straw into a glass of water it appears to bend. A simple, every day event. Now imagine it in terms of probabilities. Before a photon of light goes through the air, then the water, in rough terms it ‘examines’ all possiblities of arriving at its destination. Every single possible path is available including going to the sun and back first.
But, in quantum terms, most of them require too much ‘action’ to achieve success. All of those probablilities collapse into the one which conserves the most energy, or action.
It’s like if you’re running along a shoreline trying to get to someone who is in the water and having trouble. You want to run more than you swim because running is faster. But if you have to climb over large rocks that slows your running. If the waves are huge that slows your swimming. You get the idea. It all depends upon the situation you’re facing. At some point the amount of running and the amount of swimming balances out and you jump into the water.
The same is happening with the photon. It ‘examines’ all possibilities then takes the path which conserves the most energy to get the job done.
So where do we come in? Let’s replace that photon, or you running along the shore, with spirituality’s desire to assist in the development of humanity. Spirituality can certainly assess all possible avenues including everything from instant enlightenment right up to complete annihilation. Our saving grace is the law of conservation of energy, a basic rule of thumb for spirituality.
At the moment of this writing we haven’t had instant enlightenment nor complete annihilation. So perhaps, to attain full enlightenment, we have work to do.
Let’s imagine the environment which spirituality is working with. What is the human condition at this point? We still hold angers over slights and jealousies. We still kill each other over imagined boundaries and material resources. We still hoard finances while allowing others to suffer and starve. And many are outwardly loving with care, kindness, and compassion for humanity as a whole. It’s a mixed bag to say the least.
Spirituality will send down a potential event, still in energetic form. That event will look for an inviting place to occur, one which doesn’t require massive amounts of energy to complete. That could be through you, I, or someone we’ve never met. But it will find someone to work through, a little gift from above.
The comparison to quantum physics is that it will examine all possibilities, looking for a path which requires the least action, or effort.
Our job is to be that easy path.
If our heads are filled with dogmas, biases, angers, jealousies, ego, and self-absorption, we will block or impair the gifts which are offered.
A clear head and an open heart provide a wonderful lens through which spiritual energy can flow. May we forgive all our shortcomings and adjust our attitudes to be as open as we possibly can.
